We service all the drains around your home
If you looked around your house, you’d find a variety of different drains that need to be kept clean so that they function properly. Your Simon and Sons Plumbers professional has the training and the tools to handle any kind of drain cleaning predicament, including:
Kitchen drains. Grease, soap and food waste can stick to the insides of the drainpipe. Over time, this will cause your drains run more slowly as the pipe becomes more and more occluded and will eventually lead to a blockage.
Shower/bathtub drains. Water should drain immediately when you’re showering and in just a few minutes after a bath. If it’s draining slowly, your bathtub or shower trap and drainpipe is probably blocked with soap and hair.
Bathroom sink drains. Slow draining and blocking are often a result of hair, toothpaste, soap and grime building up over time. Tidbit: If you lose a piece of jewellery down the sink drain, don’t run any more water. Call Simon and Sons Plumbers, who’ll send a professional who should be able to retrieve the lost item without too much difficulty.
Toilet drains. A blocked toilet is often caused by attempting to flush facial tissue, baby wipes or other products that don’t disintegrate the way toilet paper does. And if you have small children, you may have a toy or sock stuck in there! Thankfully, there’s a special plumbing tool that can cut through any obstruction while hugging the inside wall of the pipe, opening the drain and giving your toilet drain a thorough cleaning at the same time.
Floor drains. Utility rooms, garages, terraces, drives and even older bathrooms may have a drain to carry away water and prevent flooding. Usually they are equipped with a trap that should be filled with water to prevent odours and sewer gas from escaping.
Main sewer lines. All your household drains lead into your main sewer line, which connects to a county sewer line or septic tank. Usually, the blocking is as a result of roots that whilst seeking water, grow through the line and block the drain.
CCTV Drain Line Inspection
A CCTV pipe inspection allows for a real-time visual inspection
of underground sewer/drain lines and other piping to determine the condition inside the pipe. A flexible fibre optic cable with a specially designed high-resolution camera on its tip is inserted into the pipe for inspection. As the cable is pushed through the pipe, the hardened waterproof camera, equipped with powerful lights, records its journey and findings. Images are transmitted to the camera operator who can make an informed diagnosis of any problem found. The video inspection can be saved for a permanent record.
Video cameras may be used to identify pipe damage and obstructions that inhibit proper flow or create occasional or repeated backups. The cameras also verify that obstructions
have been eliminated and that the lines are clean following service. The condition of a pipe typically cannot be determined without a visual inspection using an in-line camera.
Video camera inspections pinpoint problems like these:
- Blockage - grease build up or a foreign object is restricting or prohibiting proper flow and/or cleaning of the line
- Corrosion - the pipe has deteriorated and/or broken, causing sections to collapse and restrict water flow
- Bellied pipe - a section of the pipe has sunk due to ground or soil conditions, creating a valley that collects paper and waste
- Leaking joints - the seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe
- Root infiltration - tree or shrub roots have invaded the sewer line, preventing normal cleaning and/or roots
have damaged the pipe - Off-grade pipe - existing pipes are constructed of substandard or outdated material that may have deteriorated or corroded
